Travel Box Perch

For those Falconers that use travel boxes for falcons, know that their longwings just don’t sit as well on a round bar perch. Falcons prefer a flat surface like a block or shelf perch, so we went to work designing and testing a flat perch for travel transport carriers. We noticed that the falcons we used for testing were immediately pulling up one foot showing us signs of their contentment and comfort. We made the perch a bit taller to give more support for the falcons to press their tails against the perch giving them a little more balance when driving/braking. This also won’t allow them to go under the perch and get leashes wrapped up, yet at the same time there is plenty of clearance to change out the newspaper on the floor of the box.

Our travel box perches come in a variety of colors same as all our block, shelf, and scale perches. We offer two widths at this time 4″ and 5″. All perches are 12″ across to fit standard size boxes. We can custom make them longer for those with bigger boxes.  The perches are secured with a 5/16” machine screw which fits the pre-drilled holes in many travel boxes on the market.  This screw integrated with the non-slip surface of the ends of the boxes will prevent it from rotating while in use.
