Prime Falconry is excited to be able to offer our upgraded custom sized Biothane falconry anklets. Biothane has been used in making products in the medical field and for other items such as dog collars and leashes. Biothane is made from TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) which mades it weather resistant and very abrasion resistant. This makes it a perfect material that holds up to aggressive conditions or birds that tug or bite on their anklets. The Biothane won’t stain and blood and dirt will wash off easily. Due to the properties of the Biothane they will not stretch or degrade and will last for multiple seasons. Due to the increased strength of the Biothane we were able to use a thinner material leaving the finished anklet similar in thickness as a traditional leather anklet.
We have available four different types of Biothane Alymeri Anklets
- Plain Biothane with edge cuts. We believe that making the edge cuts on the Biothane has a little more give on the edge of the anklet against the bird’s leg when they bate.
- Pigskin Lined Biothane with edge cuts. The pigskin is soft and durable giving a bit more comfort.
- Pigskin lined Biothane without edge cuts makes a more narrow anklet for those that want more room for bells and transmitters.
- Kangaroo leather lined Biothane is cut like our lizard skin anklets where the leather rolls around the edges of the Biothane. This gives a soft edge and a leather anklet that will never break due to the strength of Biothane.
With all the good features of Biothane anyone who has used them are aware of some of their challenges. We at Prime Falconry took these challenges head on and created methods and technologies that allow us to make huge strides in manufacturing Biothane anklets for falconry.
Common Problems With Biothane (Don’t Worry Prime Falconry Fixed all of these)
- When Biothane is cut with scissors or craft knives, the edges tend to fray and show the internal webbing of the Biothane
- Cutting smooth and accurate sizes is difficult
- The edges of Biothane tend to be more rigid than leather on the birds leg
- Most commercial Biothane is thicker and harder which could cause leg abrasions
Features
- All of our Biothane come formed and ready to put on your birds leg.
- Our proprietary way of cutting the Biothane leaves the edges clean without any fraying or signs of the internal cord
- We were able to incorporate all of our sizes (184 different sizes) and utilize the Biothane material for a perfect fit
- Our Biothane comes with the option to have edge cuts made which will soften the edge and allow it to give a little more for those birds that bate more often.
- We have created options to have Biothane without lining, or for a softer feel to line the inside with pigskin. You can also opt to have the anklet lined with Kangaroo leather which will roll over the edges of the Biothane providing a smooth softer edge for leg protection.
We are able to incorporate all of our quality features of our other falconry anklets into these Biothane anklets. The Biothane is cut to precisely fit to these anklets and remain precisely symmetrical, the edge cuts perfectly spaced and aligned giving them a high-end aesthetic appeal. Our anklets look as good as the function. With our anklets you will always have a uniform edge around the grommet to be sure the grommet never rubs on your birds leg. Once you see our precision cut Biothane Anklets you will appreciate the quality craftsmanship.
Our Biothane Aylmeri Anklets are only available in black and can be lined with natural or black. The anklets come with grommets included.
Our anklets are available in a wide range of precision sizes.
